Our fairytale story began February 2007 in the college town of Morgantown, West Virginia. I was attending West Virginia University. I lived with 5 girls which made for an entertaining living situation, but it was the reason I met my prince charming. The girls and I were planning a night out to Longhorn Steakhouse to meet my roommates’ high school friend that was visiting from Ohio. He brought a long some of his friends and Brian was part of the group.
My roommate wanted to fix me up with Brian and after we met at the restaurant I was all about it!Not planning out the seating situation very carefully we ended up sitting at opposite ends of the table. Luckily we all decided to meet at a friend’s house after dinner where Brian and I had time to talk and get to know each other.
His trip to Morgantown ended too soon for the both of us, but we eagerly kept in touch. Brian was currently attending College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati so the trips to and from Morgantown and Cincinnati began. We traveled almost every weekend but it made for unforgettable memories.
After several months of dating we took a huge step in our relationship. I moved to Cincinnati and was ready to begin my life with Brian. He grew up on a farm so for a “city-girl” who was born and raised outside of Washington D.C., living on a farm was quite comical.
Learning how to bottle feed calves, drive a tractor and bale hay wasn’t something I thought I would become a part of, but it is now something that has become part of me! He has opened my eyes to the serenity of a sweet country life.
We have opened each other’s eyes to many new experiences. I was able to share with Brian his first plane ride when we went to New Orleans to visit my sister and brother-in-law, and his first trip into Washington D.C. when we went sightseeing on the duck tour! The list could go on with all different things we’ve been able to share with each other!
We had our big trip to Bremen Germany in the summer of 2010 when we visited my mom’s side of the family. I was so excited to share with Brian my German heritage and introduce him to my family!! We had such an amazing time trying all different kinds of German beer, food and desserts. I warned him that all we do is eat! He fell in love with Bremen and the German culture. On August 4, 2010 we adventured into the town of Bremen and visited the church where my parents and grandparents were married. We posed for a video at the front of the church to document our trip and much to my surprise Brian got down on one knee and proposed. I was so shocked I actually asked him if he was kidding! It was the most perfect moment I could’ve ever imagined and of course I said “YES”!
Brian knowing how nosey I am had given the ring to my mom to keep a hold of so I wouldn’t find it! Then it all made sense when my mom suggested we take a video in front of the church when I told them a picture would do just fine! Good thing they won that discussion because we will forever have our special moment documented!
We all dream of finding that one person to spend the rest of our life with and we’re lucky to say that day in Morgantown, West Virginia marked the first day of our journey together. We constantly still talk about how thankful we are that our paths crossed. Come June 2nd we will be saying ‘I Do’ and marrying our best friend. We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait for all the new adventures ahead of us!
