Chris and I met during undergrad at the University of Dayton. We had freshman biology together, and although I remember knowing of him from that class, we didn’t officially meet until the following year. During our sophomore year, I joined a campus organization, of which he was already a member, and we became friends quickly through the events we both attended. We started dating by the spring, and have been together ever since.
On our five-year anniversary, Chris planned a night out for us to celebrate. He was taking me to Sawyer Point, a park to which we’d been many times together, and then out to dinner at one of my favorite downtown restaurants. Before dinner we walked around Sawyer Point. After a while, we stopped at one of the outlooks over the Ohio River, which is where he first told me he loved me.
It was there that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I will never forget that moment or what he said when proposed.
There wasn’t a certain point in time that I felt like I knew Chris was “the one.”
It was more that over time, I learned more and more things about him that I loved. He has everything I was looking for in a spouse and even more that I didn’t know to ask for. We have a lot of things in common, but our differences balance each other well. He makes me want to be a better person, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
